Arthritis is the term used to describe inflammation of the joints. Of the various types of arthritis, osteoarthritis is the most common, especially in the hip. Osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease that causes the cartilage tissue to break down, is an age-related form of arthritis that primarily develops as people age.
Osteoarthritis in the hip can lead to difficulty walking, stiffness in the hip, and sporadic pain that appears in different locations, including the thigh, buttock, groin, or knee.
