Tendonitis

The hip contains many thick bands of tissue known as tendons. These tendons work to hold the bones and muscles together. Tendonitis in the hip occurs when the tendons become irritated or inflamed. In most cases, hip tendonitis is the result of tendons undergoing continual stress from overuse.

The most common symptoms of hip tendonitis include pain or tenderness near a joint, thickening or swelling of the tendon near the joint, and stiffness that restricts the mobility of the joint.
